“Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgement, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him” Hebrews 9:27-28 (NIV).

When we fail in life, God may give us the second chance. David sinned terribly, but God gave him a second chance. Jonah rebelled and run away from God, but God gave him a second chance. Peter denied Jesus thrice, but God gave him a second chance. But there is something that does not attract a second chance: death. Part of today’s focus text declares: “… people are destined to die once , and after that to face judgement.” We are preordained to die only once. There is nothing like re-incarnation. That concept is a lie of the devil. Everyone is born once and dies once. The sobering truth is that there is no opportunity after death to come back into this world to make amends to any mistakes or sins we may have committed. What awaits each of us after death is judgement. Jesus is the appointed Judge. He died once to pay for our sins and will return to bring salvation to those who make the wise choice to believe in him and receive him as their personal Saviour and Lord. We have only one chance to make this important choice-while we are alive. Have you received Jesus as your saviour?

🛐 Meditation and Prayer: Lord, thank you for giving me the grace to receive you as my Saviour.
