Ghana has beaten Mali to win bronze at the Women’s WAFU Zone B Cup of Nations. After suffering a defeat in the hands of their arch rivals (Nigeria) in the semi-finals, the Black Queens have gone on to win the bronze medal.
Head coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo, encouraged the women to put the loss to Nigeria behind them and to at least win a medal in the competition.
This they did Saturday afternoon in Ivory Coast. After stalemates within the 90 minutes of normal regulation, the winner of the bronze medal was decided on penalties
Ghana beat Mali 8-7 after the heroic goal keeper, Fafali Dumehasi saved the last kick of the Malians.
It was all joy for the Ghanaians as Fafali punched the ball away. The Black Queens were determined to win the bronze medal before the match.
