The president of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo, on Sunday 31st May, 2020, announced the easing of restrictions on religious gatherings. In a live telecast to the nation, he explained that though he was easing restrictions, religious bodies had to abide by certain protocols, including restricting the number of congregants per service to 100 and limiting services to one hour.
Although the announcement has been welcomed by some churches, others have decided to continue their services online until a time they deem fit.
In different circulars that have gone viral on social media, the founders and head pastors of these churches made known their reasons for remaining closed, including concern for the health and safety of church members.
