The event, which was attended in person by the family, friends, loved ones as well as members of the Ravi Zacharias International Ministry, was also live streamed via the RZIM YouTube Chanel and watched by over 40,000 people across the globe.

In attendance were the Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence with his wife Mrs. Karen Pence, Tim Tebow, baseball player and popular christian rap artiste, Lecrae.

The service is set to take place at Passion City Church in Atlanta and will feature homages from family and friends, including RZIM President Michael Ramsden, athlete and author Tim Tebow, Brooklyn Tabernacle Senior Pastor Jim Cymbala, and Passion Movement Founder Louie Giglio.

Following news of Ravi’s death on 19th May, Pence, who has been a long-time friend of Zacharias, tweeted: 

The Vice President, who is an outspoken Christian, personally visited the Zacharias family on 2nd May to offer his condolences. In 2014, Ravi was invited to speak at the Indiana Leadership Prayer Breakfast in 2014 at the request of the Pence, who was governor at the time.  

The memorial service will be live-streamed on RZIM’s YouTube and Facebook pages. It begins at 4pm BST. 

A private memorial was taken by Sam Allberry on 21st May.

Zacharias, 74, passed away at his home in Atlanta on May 19 from a rare form of cancer in his spine.

The apologist announced earlier this year that he was suffering from severe pain in his spine and would undergo surgery. A malignant tumor of the sacrum called sarcoma was discovered in March. 

He battled the disease with the help of top doctors, but his daughter announced a few weeks prior to his passing that no further medical treatments were available.

Zacharias founded a global apologetics ministry, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM), in 1984, and was widely sought after for decades for his eloquent answers to life’s biggest questions.

He was a prolific author, debater, and academic throughout his life. 

“The story of the gospel is the story of eternal life. My life is unique and will endure eternally in God’s presence. I will never be ‘no more.’ I will never be lost because I will be with the One who saves me,”  Zacharias wrote in his latest book, Seeing Jesus from the East. 

Christian leaders and artists will pay tribute to Zacharias, including RZIM President Michael Ramsden, Tim Tebow, Brooklyn Tabernacle Senior Pastor Jim Cymbala, Passion City Church Pastor Louie Giglio, Matt Redman, and Lecrae.

In lieu of flowers, the Zacharias family is requesting that gifts go to RZIM to support the ongoing efforts of the ministry.

The memorial service will be streamed live at 11:00 am Eastern on Friday, 29th May at  RZIM.org/RaviMemorial

“It’s a huge loss,” McEnany told CBN News. “You know, my dad said to me that Billy Graham was the great evangelist. And I think Ravi Zacharias is the great apologist.” 

She paused for a moment with tears in her eyes.

When asked where the tears were coming from, she explained further. It goes back to her days developing her faith at Oxford University in England of all places. 

“To have someone from an academic place, as an apologist could equip you with those arguments where you didn’t have to check your brain at the door when you became a Christian where there is the intellectual foundation for everything we believe,” McEnany explained. “There’s prophecy. There’s the human cell. There’s the amazing creation of the human body and all of its complexity and the planet, the universe.” 

“And he put a philosophical and academic rationale for the heart that I had for Christ, but gave me the ability to go to Oxford, where there are renowned atheist scholars who try to say there’s no intellectual undergirding for Christianity,” she continued. “Ravi Zacharias, who happened to have an office at Oxford was the person who provided the counter to that, the intelligence behind why we believe what we believe.”

McEnany sat down with CBN News Chief Political Analyst, David Brody at the White House on 19th May, 2020. It was a wide-ranging discussion that touched on a myriad of topics including her faith, personal journey, God’s role in the Trump administration, hydroxychloroquine, Obamagate, media bias, and so much more.
