Gospel music artist, Osinachi Joseph, popularly known as Sinach, this dawn unveiled the first track of what promises to be a star-studded worship album set to be released in November. The album launch had been scheduled to take place during a concert earlier this year but the COVID-19 pandemic meant the release date had to be pushed back.

The concert would arguably set the record for the first time the multiple award-winning and Dove-award nominee would be ministering on the same stage with some of the notable gospel artists from different countries in the world.

Having toured over 50 countries across six continents, Sinach says the soon-to-be-featured artists are some of the best on the gospel music scene the world over, many of whom have inspired her growth as a music minister. Nevertheless, for Sinach, it is important that every music artist just starting out should first establish their personality in their song before going out for collaborations.

The track titled ‘Peace in the Storm’, according to Sinach, is “a song for the now. These days you wake up in the morning not knowing what you will hear because there is so much unrest in the countries. Look at the places we thought were the most peaceful and secure, everything is turning upside down. And the people in it don’t even know what is happening” Sinach said in an interview with Business Day.

According to her, the song is reminiscent of Jesus’ response to a stormy situation recorded in Mark 4:37-39. The disciples of Jesus panicked, while He was asleep on the lower deck of the boat. When he was finally woken up, he stretched his hands to the sea and said “Peace be still,’ and there was a great calm.

“In this period (of the pandemic) Jesus is in the boat, so be calm,” Sinach said. “It is a message, a calming our heart song, saying don’t be afraid.”

The song is live on Spotify, Apple Music, deezer, YouTube, Amazon Music, Boomplay and itunes.

When she took her turn on stage at this year’s Harvest Praise, held at the Fantasy Dome, La in Accra on Good Friday, UK-based Ghanaian Gospel musician, Diana Hamilton, shook the entire roof and brought the Heavens down.
She did not only thrill the fully packed house with her soul inspiring songs but she ministered to them as well as prophesised.

The totally charged audience sang along as she did song after song including a personal favourite Ensi Wo Yie, Ayeyi Ndwom, Yehowa, Nyame Aye Bi, Mo Ne Yo among others.

Everyone was on their feet for the over one hour that she was on stage and it was indeed fulfilling.

The programme started at exactly 4pm with a Praise and Worship session led by Pastor Yaw Antwi-Dadzie and the Harvest Gospel Choir which put everyone in the right mood for what was in store for the day.

There was also a drama by the Harvest Theatre which was well received by the audience. It was simply about soldiers on patrol when one was attacked by rebels. He was eventually saved by his colleagues while the rebel leader was captured by the soldiers.

It was a very simple piece but with the right costumes and props which made everything look so real.

Once that was out of the way, the Harvest Gospel Choir took over and treated the very active audience to uplifting songs from their repertoire.

Rev. Fitzgerald Odonkor, President of Harvest International Ministries was on hand with the word. He thanked God for 20 years of Harvest Praise and based his sermon on “The Ultimate Sacrifice.”

“Over the years people have offered sacrifices because they are looking for favour from God, the son of God, Jesus Christ, who was without blemish offered himself as a sacrifice for our sins.”

“We do not need to offer cows or bulls or lambs because Christ’s dying on the cross was the ultimate sacrifice, because of this ultimate sacrifice we now have peace with God.

“There are many people who are afraid of a future that is unknown but because of the ultimate sacrifice Jesus Christ has redeemed us,” he stated.

Tim Godfrey and his team from Nigeria gave another powerful performance to bring proceedings to a close.

Citi FM’s Bernard Avle was the host of Harvest Praise 2019 and he brought his sense of humour to bear on the show.

In recent times, the behaviour and utterances of some Gospel musicians has left much to be desired and given rise to criticisms about how they must carry themselves.
For some critics, they are representatives of Christ and Christianity does not allow for certain attitudes but Gospel musician, Rose Adjei has stated that not every one of them is a Christian.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz she said, “what people must know is that not every Gospel artiste is a Christian, not everyone has the calling to do the things of Christ.

“Some come in with all kinds of motives and they come on board with their own behaviour so it is not fair when we are all branded as bad.

So people should just know not to put everyone in a basket and have at the back of their minds that not everyone who sings about Christ is a Christian.”

When asked how she feels when she and others are lumped together with the ‘bad’ ones, Rose Adjei said it was hurtful.

“It hurts, it is unfair but what can you do? In the end you console yourself knowing that you are doing what is right and ask that God takes control.”

Expressing her thoughts on the music scene, she said, “We have done well and are still doing well but the work can never come to an end. There are lots of things to do and we cannot stop spreading the Gospel.

“Again, there are new entrants now who are also doing well and it is a good thing, gradually things will be fine. One thing that I know for sure is that you need to work hard to make a mark as an artiste.
