Five occultists have been arrested by the Holy Spirit and transformed at the Kambale Assembly in Kabanye District in the Wa Area of The Church of Pentecost.

The five young men whose names and ages were given as Isaac Abudi, 19; Isahid Samuel, 28; Razak, 19; Issahaku, 20 and Muesdeen, 20, gave their lives to Christ Jesus on Sunday, June 9, 2019 when they went to the church purposely to dance during church service.

The young men were passing by when two of them decided to enter the church auditorium to dance during a time of praises. The two were followed by their leader in the person of Isahid Samuel alias Allizini Black Powers, and the others followed suit.

The five were offered seats to fellowship together after which they were led to Christ by the PENSA Travelling Secretary for the Upper West Sector, Pastor Samuel Yankey, who fellowshiped with the assembly on that fateful day.

After giving their lives to Christ, the church prayed for them. They were touched by the Holy Spirit and began to manifest the demonic spirit, after which they confessed to being occultists. They went back home and returned to the church with their fetishes for deliverance. Pastor Yankey and the Presiding Elder, Prosper Grami, led the church to burn the items amidst prayers by the members.

The quintet were later in the day baptized by the District Minister, Pastor Robert Ebo Mensah, who encouraged them to continue fellowshipping with the church.

They promised to halt their occultic practices although it was their only source of livelihood at the moment. They also assured leaders of the church that they would close down the facebook and other social media accounts that aided their occultic activities.

Seven days later, the leader of the group, Isahid led four other people to the church to also give their lives to Christ.

Christian professionals have been charged to always stand for the truth in their various fields of endeavours no matter the circumstances.

This is because God has intentionally placed them in their spheres of work as representatives of Christ so that through them they that do not know Christ (the truth) may seek Him and find Him.

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, threw the challenge during the inauguration of the Pentecost Professionals Network held at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, on Saturday, 8 June 2019.

The professional groupings include The Church of Pentecost Health Professionals Network (COPHNet), Pentecost Built Environment Guild, Pentecost Media Guild, Pentecost Finance/Banking Guild, Pentecost Educationists Guild, Pentecost Judicial Workers Guilds, Pentecost Business Men and Women Network, Pentecost Music/Entertainment Guild, Pentecost IT Guild, and Pentecost Hospitality Guild.

Speaking on the topic, “Truth,” the Chairman said truth is the soul of every nation, and the way that every nation should tread. “If you take truth away there will be confusion; there will be no righteousness,” he said.

“Young people are looking for authentic people who will carry themselves in truth but they are scarce. I want you to be on the side of Jesus and show yourself up as one who is on His side by holding on to the truth at all times.

“Allow yourself to be a true branch of Jesus Christ. Wherever you are know that you are representing the truth.

“Truth has fallen in the streets but it shouldn’t fall in the church. If you are a member of the Church, arise and show forth that you are for Christ. We can take this nation for Christ,” he stated.

Reading from Isaiah 59: 14-16, Apostle Nyamekye said truth is the most powerful thing and most valuable thing on earth, but it has fallen in the streets. He bemoaned that there are no values any longer as everything now is relative – it depends on you and your interpretation. “When you steal and you are caught that is your problem. But when you steal and you are not caught the world will describe that as being smart,” he bemoaned.

He added: “Truth does not matter in the cultural certain. Truth, in fact, does not matter in the political arena at all. It is no longer appreciated in the law courts; it all depends on argument. It is not about truth any longer. People who are supposed to be in prison are walking free and we carry them shoulder high. Truth is not appreciated in the schools any longer. Truth cannot be found in the hospital arena.”

The Chairman explained that Jesus Christ is the epitome of truth, having declared in Matthew 14:6 that He is the way, the truth and the life, and also when He was arraigned before Pilate, He asserted in John 18:37-38 that He came to earth to testify of the truth.

He pointed out that everyone who is on the side of truth listens to Jesus Christ and does not follow the crowd. “All those of us who are followers of Jesus Christ, the reason you are born again cannot be different from the reasons with which Christ came. He came to witness and testify about the truth. You cannot have any agenda besides this one,” he said.

Reading further from 1 Timothy 3:14-15, the Chairman stated that the church is the pillar and foundation of the truth. He said that when one is born again, he/she becomes a member of the church, and that he/she should be the bearer of the truth.

According to the Chairman, in analysing Jesus’ statement during His encounter with Pilate it can be deduced that it is not so much about what the truth is, because people know the truth. However, who to be the embodiment of the truth is the challenge.

He therefore charged Christian professionals not to compromise their work ethics and Christian values and principles in their workplaces, because it is only the truth that can bring economic freedom to Ghana, adding that the truth should bring freedom to the church because truth is the way.

He revealed that God scattered the Levites (the priesthood family) among the people in 48 towns when the Israelites got to the Promised Land since they [Levites] were not given any land. They were to live among the people so that through them the truth would be made known to the people.

“All of us are representing one sphere or the other. We have been equipped and unleashed among the people to go and impact them. Anyone on God’s side should show himself up as a person who is standing for the truth. One person cannot possess the nations. It takes all of us to take our spheres for Christ, and together we can change Mother Ghana. We can transform the nation by our truth and the light and the salt that we have,” he stated.

The church of Pentecost women fellowship in New Atuabo District has donated assorted items to the inmates of the Tarkwa local Prison.

The items included loaves of bread, gari, soap, toilet rolls, pepsodent, slippers and second hand clothing.

Presenting the items on behalf of the group, the president, Madam Joyce Koranteng, indicated that the gesture was to show love to the inmates and support their up keep.

She encouraged the inmates not to lose hope but rather, focus on the teachings of God in the trying moments.

Madam Koranteng entreated parents to nature their wards with the word of God to enable them refrain from unhealthy and negative behaviours that are against the morality of a society.

Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP)Julius Destiny Koblanu, a staff officer of Tarkwa Prisons on behalf of the service, expressed gratitude to the group for the assistance and debunked the assertion that items presented to prisons were either not given to the inmates or were offered for sales.

He appealed to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), institutions, philanthropists and individuals to support them with their widow’s mite.

The Church of Pentecost, Damongo Central, in the Savannah Region, has launched a project dubbed: “Environmental Care: My Responsibility,” to encourage the citizenry to keep the environment clean for healthy living.

Pastor Fred Tetteh, the District Pastor of the Church, who launched the project at Damongo, expressed disgust about the filth that had engulfed communities and appealed to all to ensure a clean environment because “cleanliness is next to godliness.”

Pastor Tetteh said littering and indiscriminate felling of trees were contributing to deforestation and climate change and urged all to make it a responsibility to protect the environment.

He said media reports and general observation showed the magnitude and severity of waste management problems in the communities, which was affecting the populace.

He said the Church recognised clean environment and good health as a means to achieving socio-economic development and that it intended to partner government to tackle sanitation issues in the country.

Pastor Tetteh advised members of the Church to lead exemplary lives for others to emulate to keep the environment clean.

Mr Saeed Muhazu Jibril, the District Chief Executive of West Gonja, who was represented during the event, commended the Church for the good initiative and called on other churches in the District to emulate the good example.

He told the Church that the Assembly had developed strategies including the passage of the environmental by-laws, which would be gazetted, to help address issues of sanitation in the area.

The General Assembly of the Church of Pentecost is to construct a District Police headquarters in Akropong in the Akuapem North District of the Eastern Region this year.

This was announced by Apostle Alexander N.Y Kumi-Larbi, the General Secretary of the Church during a sod cutting ceremony to officially commerce the construction of the station at Akropong, Akuapem.

He said the initial plan of the Church was to just construct a police station but taking into consideration a special appeal made by the Inspector General of Police and the purpose the facility will serve, the original plan has been upgraded to a District Police Headquarters.

The General Secretary said the upgraded plan will be ready in two weeks time.
Apostle Kumi-Larbi said, the facility is the first among three facilities to be constructed for the Police Service (GPS) in some parts of the country by the Church.

He said, part of a five-year vision document of the church (Vision 2023), contains a security-based development project dubbed “Police Station and Post Project (PSPJ)” which seeks to build Police Stations in some deprived and insecure areas within the county.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi recalled that in May 2018, the Church constructed and handed over to the service, a Police station and accommodation facilities in the Millennium City near Kasoa.

He said a double cabin pick-up vehicle meant to facilitate patrol activities and equipment for audio-video editing, were also presented to the Public Affairs Unit at the Police headquarters.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi expressed gratitude towards the service for supporting the Church’s Vision 2023 agenda to construct Police stations and to ensure an atmosphere of security towards the development of the country.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr David Asante-Apeatu said the Police together with private developers have designed a relatively affordable model Police stations and entreat communities, agencies and organizations who intend to construct one for the service to do so.

He said, the police expect nothing but a healthy, transparent, responsible and accountable partnership with the general public to share information concerning crime with the police, to strengthen the Police to fight crime.

The IGP appealed to the public to avoid attacking police stations as occurred a few months ago in Somanya, because the effect does not only affect the police but the public as well.

He advised all Police officers to be professional in their field of work.

Mr Asante-Apeatu thanked the Church of Pentecost for their effort to create a secured environment for the citizenry and encouraged all to follow the example.
