The church of Pentecost women fellowship in New Atuabo District has donated assorted items to the inmates of the Tarkwa local Prison.

The items included loaves of bread, gari, soap, toilet rolls, pepsodent, slippers and second hand clothing.

Presenting the items on behalf of the group, the president, Madam Joyce Koranteng, indicated that the gesture was to show love to the inmates and support their up keep.

She encouraged the inmates not to lose hope but rather, focus on the teachings of God in the trying moments.

Madam Koranteng entreated parents to nature their wards with the word of God to enable them refrain from unhealthy and negative behaviours that are against the morality of a society.

Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP)Julius Destiny Koblanu, a staff officer of Tarkwa Prisons on behalf of the service, expressed gratitude to the group for the assistance and debunked the assertion that items presented to prisons were either not given to the inmates or were offered for sales.

He appealed to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), institutions, philanthropists and individuals to support them with their widow’s mite.

The Church of Pentecost has commissioned an Ultra-Modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Laboratory attached with a Library at Akyem Nkronso in the East Akyem municipality of the Eastern Region.

The GH¢102,307.00 project initiated in 2015  by the Hallelujah Assembly of the Church in Apedwa with top-up funding support from the Suhum Area Office of the Church of Pentecost is one of a kind in the area. The well-furnished facility is expected to serve school children and students in Nkronso, Apedwa, Asafo and Akooko communities.

The Suhum Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Anthony Eghan Kwesi Ekuban said the project is part of community-based interventions by the Church to improve the living standards of Ghanaians.

He said the Church as part of the vision 2023 Agenda of “possessing the nations”, will continue to roll out many initiatives to help Ghana achieve the sustainable development goals particularly on Education, Health, water, and sanitation.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Abuakwa South, Kojo Ofori-Sarfo commended the Church for its contribution to the development of Ghana. He added that “If all other institutions would emulate this benevolence, government’s burden would be lessened.”

The East Akyem Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Grace Owusua Addo said Library and ICT are very important in quality education delivery; therefore, hopeful the facility would help improve the academic performance of students in the area.

During the dedication service, Mr. Raphael John Marfo, the Director of Port Health Unit of the Ghana Health Service donated four high-speed computers and accessories worth GH¢10, 000 to supplement the effort of the Church.
